the hydroponic net cup with a built-in algae guard
A clean, healthy root zone is the difference between plants that thrive and plants that sulk. Our hydroponic net cups are made from food-grade, antibacterial silicone, with a built-in algae guard that keeps your roots happy and your upkeep low.
They work with deep water culture, NFT and Kratky setups, so whatever system you're running, your plants get the conditions they need. The algae guard blocks the light that algae feed on, which means more of your nutrients reach your plants instead of feeding green sludge around the roots.
Whether it's your first crop or your fiftieth, they make hydroponics easier and a good deal tidier. If you want to dig into the detail, read our guide on what to look for in a hydroponic net pot.
an algae guard that's always there
The algae guard lid is attached to the cup, so you can't lose it. It blocks the light that algae need to take hold, which means more nutrients and oxygen for your roots and a tidier system overall. A custom cutout sits around the stem, so you can lift or adjust the guard without disturbing the plant.
tough enough to forget about
The silicone simply won't quit. You could drive a car over one and it would spring straight back into shape. There are no awkward crevices for gunk to hide in either, so a quick rinse keeps them hygienic, and they're dishwasher-safe when you want a deeper clean.
kind to roots, easy to transplant
The soft, flexible material and a single root channel let roots come free without tearing. Moving a seedling from your hydroponic system into soil stays gentle and stress-free, so your plants carry on growing without a setback.
fits a wide range of systems
Sized for standard 1.5 inch (38mm) holes, these net cups drop into most hydroponic systems. They also fit AO 25/40 tapered Grodan rockwool cubes, so you have plenty of flexibility in how you grow.

Drops straight into the heirloom garden, the 2L heirloom planter, and the heirloom basin (used in the sun shelf 3 and the sun garden).
a tighter fit in these
They'll also go into our original grey basins (the ecokitchen, sun shelf 1, sun shelf 2 and family farm), but it's a squeeze. They sit slightly proud of the basin lid, and the algae guard takes a little more effort to press in.
