With its true blue, saucer-shaped blooms, Blue Daze (Evolvulus nuttallianus) makes a gorgeous groundcover or container plant. Its easy care and continuous flowering also add versatility.
How to Grow
Grow in full sun for heaviest flowering. Keep soil evenly moist, allowing the top inch to dry out between waterings. Shear back as needed to encourage new growth. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering.
Care Tips
Water when the top inch of soil becomes dry. Mist leaves occasionally. Fertilize monthly with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season. Bring containers indoors before frost.
Uses
Blue Daze shines spilling over containers and hanging baskets. It also makes a beautiful groundcover or border plant with its trailing blue blooms.
Planting Tips
Space 12-18 inches apart in well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice the container width and backfill with soil. Water thoroughly after planting. Use quality potting mix for containers.
Maintenance
Shear back as needed to encourage new growth and shape. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering. Repot container plants as needed in spring.
Pests & Diseases
Watch for aphids and slugs. Improve air flow around plants. Control pests with insecticidal soap or neem oil sprays. Prevent root rot by avoiding overwatering.
