A literal twist on a classic favorite: the strappy green and white leaves curl and twist like gift wrap ribbons. One of the best choices for beginning houseplant gardeners, both because it is so adaptable and easy to grow and for the ease in propagating the baby plants – “spiderettes” – that emerge like little helicopters from long, arching runners. Repot only when tuberous roots threaten to burst the container; choose distilled or rainwater if brown tips become a problem. Cholorophytum comosum
