Queen Victoria Agave (Agave victoriae-reginae) — also called Royal Agave or Queen Victoria Century Plant — is one of the most elegant and compact species in the Agave family. It is native to the Chihuahuan Desert in northern Mexico and prized for its perfect geometric form and striking white markings.

🌿 Plant Overview

·         Scientific name: Agave victoriae-reginae

·         Common names: Queen Victoria Agave, Royal Agave

·         Type: Succulent, evergreen rosette

·         Growth habit: Compact rosette, slow-growing

·         Size: 25–45 cm tall and 30–60 cm wide (small and symmetrical)

🌞 Light Requirements

·         Sunlight: Full sun to bright indirect light

·         Outdoors: Best grown in full sun for compact form and strong color.

·         Indoors: Place near a bright south- or west-facing window.

·         Note: Gradually acclimate it to strong sunlight to prevent leaf scorch.

💧 Watering

·         Watering schedule:

o    Spring–Summer (growing season): Water when soil is completely dry.

o    Autumn–Winter (dormant period): Water sparingly or once a month.

·         Method: Water deeply but infrequently; avoid letting the rosette sit in water.

·         Warning: Overwatering can cause root rot — a common cause of death in Agaves.

🌱 Soil

·         Use well-draining cactus/succulent mix.

·         Add extra perlite, pumice, or coarse sand to improve aeration.

·         Avoid clayey soil or moisture-retaining mixes.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity

·         Ideal temperature: 18–30°C (65–85°F)

·         Cold tolerance: Down to about 0°C (32°F) for short periods, but prefers warmth.

·         Humidity: Low — thrives in dry air.

🌼 Flowering

·         A monocarpic plant — it flowers once in its lifetime, then the rosette dies.

·         Flowering occurs after 15–30 years, producing a tall stalk (up to 4 m) with cream-white flowers.

·         Often produces offsets (pups) before or after flowering to continue the life cycle.

Worth a try, I guess.
Picked up this beef tallow lip balm for my husband. We had the worst winter and everything was so dry. He is used to using the waxy sticks you buy at the big box stores to treat his dry lips. He has been using tallow and I noticed this lip balm and thought he might like it. The stick is quite big. Thicker than the normal waxy stick you might buy at the store. In line with some of the larger sticks I have seen in the stores by some of the men's lines that are out there. He used it often and found it to work well. Did it work better than some of the waxy sticks from the store, he didn't think so but it was on par with those. He does like that it is natural. He told me that he would apply it and his lips would feel good and it would last for a while and just like any other product he would try, his lips would be dry again after a while. I would say that generally, it sounds like an average product but it's natural. Worth a try, I guess!
