Aglaonema commutatum ‘Rich Red’ is a striking foliage plant loved for its rich red and deep green leaves that bring instant colour to indoor spaces while remaining one of the most forgiving houseplants to grow.
Why You’ll Love It ✔️
✔️ Vibrant red foliage that adds warmth and contrast to any room
✔️ Exceptionally hardy and low-maintenance, perfect for busy plant lovers
✔️ Tolerates a wide range of indoor conditions compared to many foliage plants
Care Tips
🌞 Light: Bright indirect light is ideal to maintain strong colour, though it will tolerate lower light conditions.
💧 Water: Water when the top few centimetres of soil dry out; avoid overwatering as soggy soil can lead to root issues.
💦 Humidity: Average indoor humidity is sufficient, but a humidifier can support stronger growth.
🌡 Temperature: Prefers warm conditions between 18–30°C and should be kept away from cold drafts.
🌱 Soil: Use a well-draining mix of coco coir, coco chip & perlite to balance moisture retention and airflow.
🪴 Support: Not required, as it maintains a sturdy, upright growth habit.
🌿 Fertiliser: Controlled-release fertiliser is added to the potting mix; supplement with a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season for optimal colour and growth.
🚫 Toxicity: Toxic if ingested; keep away from pets and children.
If you want bold colour without the fuss, ‘Rich Red’ is a reliable and rewarding choice for any indoor plant collection.
