Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera x buckleyi)

Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera x buckleyi), also known as Thanksgiving Cactus or Holiday Cactus, is a popular seasonal plant celebrated for its vibrant blooms and segmented stems. Native to the coastal mountains of Brazil, it produces brilliant flowers in shades of red, pink, white, and purple, making it a holiday favorite. With its festive appearance and easy-care nature, Christmas Cactus is perfect for brightening homes during the winter months.

Distinctive Features

Christmas Cactus features long, arching stems made of flattened segments that produce clusters of colorful, tubular flowers. These vibrant blooms typically appear in winter, creating a cheerful display that makes it a staple for holiday decorating. Its unique growth habit and long-lasting flowers ensure it remains a centerpiece during the festive season.

Growing Conditions

  • Sun Exposure: Prefers bright, indirect light; avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch stems.
  • Soil: Thrives in well-draining, slightly acidic soil; cactus or succulent mix is ideal.
  • Water: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry; allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings to prevent root rot.
  • Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity; thrives in kitchens, bathrooms, or near humidifiers.
  • USDA Hardiness Zones: 9 to 11; best grown as a houseplant in cooler climates.

Ideal Uses

  • Holiday Decor: A favorite choice for festive displays, adding seasonal color and cheer.
  • Windowsills and Tables: Cascading stems and vibrant blooms brighten any indoor space.
  • Gift Plant: A thoughtful, long-lasting holiday gift that often becomes a family tradition.
  • Indoor Containers: Thrives in pots and can be easily moved to highlight seasonal decor.

Low Maintenance Care

Christmas Cactus is easy to grow and maintain, requiring only occasional attention to stay healthy and blooming.

  • Watering: Water when the top inch of soil dries; avoid waterlogged conditions.
  • Pruning: After blooming, trim back stems to maintain shape and encourage future flowers.
  • Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer during the growing season (spring to early fall).
  • Temperature: Cool temperatures (55 to 65 degrees F) during blooming encourage vibrant flowers.

Why Choose Christmas Cactus?

Christmas Cactus combines beauty, tradition, and ease of care, making it one of the most beloved holiday houseplants. Its vibrant blooms bring cheer and its longevity allows it to be treasured for years.

  • Festive Blooms: Produces colorful flowers during the holiday season.
  • Easy Care: Minimal maintenance makes it suitable for all gardeners.
  • Versatile: Perfect for windowsills, tables, and seasonal arrangements.
  • Long-Lived: Can thrive for decades, often passed down as a family heirloom.

For festive color, lasting blooms, and easy care, Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera x buckleyi) is an essential holiday plant for any home.

Rock-Solid Mounts with Flawless Adjustability
Size: Standard--black, Size: Standard--black
Absolutely fantastic mounts! I couldn't be happier with this purchase. They are currently holding my 12lb surround sound speakers on the wall, and I have complete confidence in their sturdiness. They feel incredibly solid and well-made. Installation was a breeze, and the range of motion is a real game-changer. Being able to swivel and tilt the speakers has allowed me to perfectly angle them towards my listening position, which has made a huge difference in my surround sound experience. On top of the great functionality, they have a very sleek and clean look. The built-in cable management is a brilliant touch that helps keep everything looking tidy and professional. If you're looking for a reliable, adjustable, and great-looking set of speaker mounts, look no further. These are top-notch, and I highly recommend them!

Great product!
Size: Standard--white, Size: Standard--white
Very sturdy and great value for money! Speakers fit perfectly. You can adjust the width and tighten around the sides of the speaker so they’re not loose on the platform. Offers proper stability for the speakers, they will not fall out of the wall if they’re installed correctly and not overloaded with weight. I have the Edifier R1280T speakers mounted and they’re roughly 10-12 pounds each. **My only complaint which was not a big deal to me** As other people have mentioned, the white plate that hides the screws on the wall is not attached to anything. It was just hanging there loose with a gap between it and the wall, but I got these clear double-sided tape circles to adhere them to the wall and it worked !!! Very quick and easy solution. Maybe the seller could include a few clear stickies in the package moving forward?

Almost perfect, absolutely fit for purpose, and a great value
Size: Standard--black
These are really, really close to being five stars, but because of my OCD tendencies when it comes to things being true and level, I can only go four. The way these mounts are made, speakers rest inside and on the inner surface of the L-shaped adjustable side brackets, and not on the large metal plate between them. Leveling on the fore-and-aft plane can easily be handled via the adjustment nut on the bottom of the bracket. But there is no provision for side-to-side leveling, so if the manufacturing of the side brackets is not within tolerance, you'll wind up with a speaker that's ever-so-slightly wonky...which is the case with ONE of my mounts. The bubble is still between the lines, but it's kissing the left line. Most would not care about this, and I'm not too bummed about it, but I am able to see that much out-of-true with the naked eye. It's not enough to pursue any kind of remediation, because the value on these really is awfully good. They are solidly built, easy to install, and easy to adjust. The manufacturer is apparently improving the product as they go based on feedback, as some issues that have vexed other owners have not been a problem for me, such as the wall plates being or coming loose (the design now ensures they stay put once pushed back to the wall), or the adjustment nut and bolt rotating freely and not staying tight (the ones on mine are great and function as intended). For the price, these are really hard to beat, and I have a feeling all the mounts like this with the different oddly-named brands are made in the same factory. That being the case, get the cheapest ones, and the day I bought mine, these were those.
