The Calathea White Star is a real eye-catcher in your home. The striking white stripes on its dark green leaves add a fresh and modern look to any room. Even if you're not very experienced with plants, this beauty impresses with its ease of care. Thanks to its colorful leaf markings, it complements other green favorites perfectly, such as the Monstera Minima or the elegant Aglaonema Silver Bay . Pair it with a stylish pot from our pot collection , and your interior is complete.

How to care for a Calathea White Star

The Calathea White Star grows naturally in moist, semi-shaded areas. By replicating this, you'll bring the most beautiful colors and healthiest leaves into your home. Regular watering and higher humidity are therefore key to success, especially for beginners.

Watering Calathea White Star

Water your Calathea White Star regularly, but avoid allowing the potting soil to remain constantly soggy. The plant prefers even moisture, especially during the summer months. Preferably use filtered or rainwater to prevent limescale buildup, and occasionally change the potting soil with a mixture for aroid plants, such as our potting soil for aroids .

Light requirements Calathea White Star

Place the Calathea White Star in a bright spot out of direct sunlight. Overly bright sunlight can burn the white markings, causing brown spots. An east- or west-facing window is ideal; this gives the plant sufficient light without excessive heat. For more shade plant inspiration, browse our collection of shade plants .

Common problems

Calatheas are known for their sensitivity to changing conditions. Below you'll find solutions for the most common issues.

Yellow leaves

Yellow leaves often indicate insufficient water or low humidity. Check that the top centimeter of potting soil is dry and increase watering frequency if necessary. A humidifier or regular misting will help maintain humidity. Read more tips in our blog post "5 Tips for Increasing Humidity" on the Plantrekkers website.

Plant is dripping

Sometimes you'll see droplets on the leaves in the morning; this is called guttation. This is a sign that your Calathea is getting enough water and is losing excess moisture through the leaf margins. Make sure the plant isn't constantly sitting in a layer of water to prevent root rot.

Pests

Spider mites and thrips are the biggest pests for moisture-loving plants. Regularly check the undersides of leaves and treat any infestations with a mild organic spray or our jungle mist spray . Good ventilation and clean leaves minimize the risk of pests.

Carrots emerge from the bottom of the pot

When the roots protrude from the drainage holes, it's time to repot your Calathea White Star. Use a pot one size larger and fill it with fresh potting soil. Leave some of the roots free to breathe, and water slightly less for a week after repotting to allow the plant to recover.

Brown edges on the leaves

Brown edges are often caused by overly dry air or hard water. Increase the humidity with a humidifier or a water dish near the plant. Use rainwater or filtered water to prevent spots and brown edges. Combine this care with the guidelines from our Caladium care guide for additional inspiration.

Durable chew toy.
Color: Blue
My dog loves these. She chews on them a lot. She seems to like the different shapes. She is part Pit and an aggressive chewer. These chew toys last a long time. And I love the three pack so if we lose one, we always have a spare.

Decent durability for the price
Color: Blue
Bought a bunch of these for a dog shelter and have to say - decent for the price of you have aggressive chewers. All of the toys are still going 6+ months later, even with the strongest jawed pitty mix. Does get torn up at the ends but can easily be sanded down for a longer lasting toy, unlike some other hard toys with material not meant for sanding. The antler and ring seem to be favorites. The antler even has a divot so you can put soft treats in it or peanut butter and freeze it for a more interactive experience. Some came with a strong beef/liver smell but not overwhelming or off-putting. They are hefty without being too heavy, less likely to damage floors. Overall a good purchase

For aggressive chewers
Color: Blue
My pup is an aggressive chewer and these keep him occupied. He keeps coming back for them. Go to replaced old chew toys. Only issue is he leaves his toys everywhere and if you step on them. They are quite sharp

Not the best for REAL CHEWERS.
Color: Blue
My dogs love to chew and these didn’t last too long. It did keep them busy and I probably will buy these again but don’t expect much resistance of yours have big dogs that love to chew toys.
