This vintage Betsey Johnson (early 2000s reissued punk label) floral jersey dress is so iconic to the Betsey Johnson brand lure. In the early 2000s, Betsey Johnson reissued new takes on iconic styles from her 1980s collections, and included in them the same distinct label found in her pieces from that era. This print is a reissue of a print she began using in the late 1970s/early 1980s. This dress walked the Betsey Johnson Spring 2004 runway in two different colorways (see below). It features a corset-style bodice, with exposed hooks-and-eyes down the front and adjustable bra straps, for a lingerie-inspired look. The basque-waist bodice dips below the natural waist line in the center, with gathering at the seam to create a tulip-shaped skirt: it's fuller at the hips, thanks to that pleating, but tapers towards the hem. At the hips are pockets, with exposed seams, calling back to that lingerie inspiration. You can play with how the hooks and eyes are fastened, leaving some undone at the top, or some undone at the bottom, creating a slit in the skirt. The cotton-blend jersey has a lot of stretch to it— this dress is SO comfortable, and easy to layer when it's cold with tights, boots, cardigans, etc.
Measurements: Note that the jersey fabric naturally stretches a good deal, so this will fit a range of sizes, likely a size Small, Medium, and potentially Large depending on desired fit. (Shown slightly pinned on a size X-Small to simulate proper fit; Marked a size Small but it feels larger to me.)
Chest: 32" laid flat, up to 38" fully stretched
Waist: 28" laid flat, up to 35"+ stretched
Hips: up to 50" laid flat (with gathering stretched out), plus a good deal of stretch
Length: 31" down center front, from front of neckline to hem
