It does up with six basketweave silk covered buttons down the front. The lower front has a pointed cutaway and the vest has a four pocket front. The vest has high set notched lapels and is lined in white polished cotton

This is an antique vest or waistcoat dating to the early 20th century.  The front of this antique vest is made of a fine woven black wool while the back of the vest is made of plain black satin with an adjusting belt at the lower back.  It does up with six basketweave silk covered buttons down the front.  The lower front has a pointed cutaway and the vest has a four pocket front.  The vest has high set notched lapels and is lined in white polished cotton at the front - it has a pocket built into the lining.  

Age: most likely Edwardian or 1910s.

Sizing: No size is indicated on this antique vest, and although it should fit a medium size, about a US size 38 - please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Chest:  39” around, taken under the arm opening

Waist:  38” around, adjustable to be made smaller

Overall length:  24”, measured flat, from the top to the bottom of the front centre points, 20” measured flat at the back from the neck to the bottom

Condition:  This antique vest is in very good condition with no wear, tear, staining, soiling or odour.  It is very clean outside and in (see photos of back and interior).  Please view the close-up photos
