No wasted space as in, there are additional deep pockets on the outside for anything but what comes to mind is a water bottle that won’t go sideways and spill or leak or topple out. It is comfortable, spacious, smart, and pleasing to touch and hold. *the bottom zipper is discreet and opens up to expand the volume of the bag should you need it. The lining easily accommodates the adjustment. I chose the small size which is perfectly adequate for my needs. I will use for short trips as it will accommodate laptop, dog treats, my snacks and hydration, book, wallet, phone and more of course. I value this much much higher than the price I paid. None of the pics do it justice. You have to have it in your hands to believe. I highly recommend. I’m fighting that impulse to get a back up bc this is def my new favorite.
