A gem to behold, this original 1950's emerald green faille satin dress, accented by gathers pleats and finished with a delicate bow, is just the perfect piece for your cocktail wardrobe.  

The rounded neckline of the dress is framed by a simple shoulder line and short capped inset sleeves. The fitted bodice, boasts wide gathered pleats that radiate from across the left hand side, side seam and contour the elegant line of the bust and bodice. The cinched in waistline, is finished with a matching decorative emerald green side bow along the left hand side. The elegant flared line of the skirt, is accented by box pleats that gather from the waist-seam along either side of the front of the waist, setting off the mock cross-over panel of the skirt, which flares out along the left hand side. Finished with box pleats along the back of the skirt-line, this mesmerising dress showcases the elegance of the era.The skirt is lined with a pleated layer of tulle, which allows for the gentle flare and construction of the skirt.

Condition: This dress is in near perfect vintage condition. A small area of shinning to the faille satin along the right hand side of the bust-line amongst the please. A small pin sized mark along the centre front of the neckline. Two small pin sized marks along the left hand side of the neckline. Part of the cotton inner lining of the skirt has been cut away. These minor details are not overly apparent when the dress is being worn and only noticeable upon close inspection. Please refer to the photographs, as they form part of the condition report. 

Fastenings: This dress fastens at the back with a 15 inch metal zip and a metal hook and eye.

Washing instructions: This garment should be dry cleaned or hand washed in cool water.

Fabric: Faille Satin, Tulle Lining, Cotton Lined

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
