Note that the Dana 35 has a carrier split between 3.31 and 3.54. When changing from a higher (numerically lower) gear ratio to a lower (numerically higher) gear ratio, you will need a low ratio carrier. For example, if you currently have a Dana 35 with 3:31 or higher (3.07, 2.73, etc) gears and are swapping to a lower (3.55, 4.10. 4.56, etc) ratio, you will need a low ratio carrier. NOTE: DANA 35 Axles with a 3:07 Gear Ratio will require the Dana 35 Low Ratio Carrier # 44590 when upgrading to the 4:11, 4:56, or 4:88 Ratio. (On 1992 and earlier Dana 35 axles you will also need to purchase a Genuine Spicer Spider Gear Overhaul Kit Part# 10020717 when purchasing a the Dana 35 Low Ratio Carrier.
