The Earth Ship exists to be the lightest, fastest, and most comfortable gravel bike on the market. It is the epitome of what we believe a modern drop bar bike can and should be.
Handbuilt in our Minneapolis workshop, it is light, nimble, capable, and most importantly comfortable for very long days in the saddle. As we’ve gotten less self-conscious and more independent-minded we’ve come to embrace taller stack heights as the future of endurance riding. When it comes to big days, we believe that “comfortable is fast!”

You’ll find a full suite of features that include:

  • Three bottle mounts, top tube bag mount, and fender mounts.
  • The frame is built around our own Waypoint fork which has three-pack mounts on each leg and internal dynamo and brake routing.
  • For cable management, we’ve chosen to use Paragon’s modular system which allows the cleanest possible appearance and can be customized for AXS, 1X or a traditional two derailleur setup. We use full-round cable guides on the stays as we find plastic zip ties on high-end bikes to be an inelegant compromise.
  • Clearance for 700 X 50c or 650b X 2.2" tires

*Currently all Earth Ships are being made to order with your choice of stock or custom geometry, your choice of features and frame options, and stock or custom paint.

GEOMETRY
Gravel race geo with all-day comfort and bump absorption at the forefront. The tall stack, a slightly lowered bottom bracket, and generous stays yield an unbelievably smooth ride and inspire confidence when descending fast over loose terrain. Fairly aggressive head tube angles keep everything quick and maneuverable.

TUBING

Chosen specifically for lightweight and vibration damping, each piece of tubing on every size is carefully selected to be as comfortable and light as possible. Columbus Life for the main triangle with Columbus Zona stays.  The dropouts, bottom bracket, braze-ons, and tapered headtube are from Paragon Machine Works.

Sturdy tool for improving coffee distribution
    Color: Black
For those who do not know what this tool does: The Weiss Distribution Technique (WDT) is a distribution method for espresso making, by which you use the tool to stir the coffee while it sits in the portafilter. You should use a portafilter funnel of the same size to avoid spilling grinds. The stirring action breaks up clumps and evens out the density of coffee within the puck. The result is reduced channeling and more even extractions. Who needs this tool: Those without a conical burr grinder, where the oil and variety of grind sizing may cause clumping, will benefit from this tool. Those with a decent conical burr grinder will find minimal benefit from this tool. I'm using a Breville Pro and do not see a huge improvement myself, for example. Quality: The build quality of this tool is excellent. You can add from one to seven needles, with many folks saying three is the sweet spot for best distribution. I've been using it for over a month and none of the needles have bent. The stand is solid aluminum and well-made, but it doubles as a protector of the needles. I just clean with a quick rinse and a wipe before returning it to its stand. Outcome: I did not realize most of the info above until after purchase. So my puck is solid, the pull is clean, and my coffee tastes great with a Breville Pro. However, this tool has a minimal amount to do with that. It is a worthwhile tool for those with a lower-end grinder, especially non-Burr grinders, and it is aesthetically-pleasing and well-made, which is why I rate it 5 stars overall. It also is of good value compared to more expensive variants.

Top quality tool that improves espresso extraction
    Color: Gray
Fantastic and easy to use. Stand sits on top of espresso machine and the WDT tool is always ready, no unscrewing. Upgraded from a screw-shut version and couldn't be happier. Comes with extra needles which I hope to never need. Easy to recommend

Makes a difference but maybe only to caffeine addled coffee snobs
    Color: Black
I won't say that everyone urgently needs one of these. This is helped me up my game. Perhaps not absolutely necessary, but it noticeably reduces canalization and improves extraction. And it appears to have improved not only my espresso, but my pour-overs and my Mokapot (especially the Mokapot!). It's a little fiddley to assemble - there's sets of springs and needles - but once you get it all locked down, its very tight. There's a set of spares - I can't imagine needing them. The tool kinda sits in the weighted base, but it appears to stay put in my cabinet.

WDT Tool: The Needle in My Espresso Haystack
    Color: Black, Color: Black
I kind of went down a deep dive researching these WDT (Weiss Distribution Technique) tools, and I have to say, this one hits the sweet spot! The needle size is just right, and the shape is spot on for what I need. Plus, it’s a nice perk that you can remove and replace the needles. I’ve tried using needles and bobby pins in the past, but they were too thick and just ended up creating their own channels—talk about a brewing disaster! Now, here’s the twist: even though it comes with seven needles installed (and more replacements), I find it a bit overkill. With all those needles, it just traps the grinds in the center, pushing stuff around like it’s playing a game of “don’t let the coffee escape.” So, I stick with just three needles in a triangle formation for optimal distribution. Pro tip: don’t forget to adjust the depth as you use it to ensure you’re getting the best coverage of your coffee grounds! The build quality is actually pretty impressive. It feels like well-constructed metal components that could survive a small espresso war. Plus, it's more affordable than some of those fancy options out there—because who needs a second mortgage for great coffee? It looks quite nice on my counter, and the little stand is a handy extra touch. Overall, if you’re looking to up your espresso game and avoid the chaos of uneven distribution, this WDT tool is worth considering. Just remember: less is sometimes more when it comes to needles!
