Stapelia gigantea – The Giant Starfish Flower
Stapelia gigantea is a fascinating succulent known for its massive, star-shaped flowers and chunky, cactus-like stems. Native to arid regions of Africa, this plant produces soft, fuzzy blooms that can reach up to 10–16 inches across. The flowers are typically pale yellow with reddish markings and have a distinct scent that attracts pollinators—earning it the nickname "Carrion Flower." Its thick, green stems grow in upright clumps and make a striking structural addition to any succulent collection.
