The Mondraker Dune R Bike is built on a premise that fewer eMTBs actually deliver on: that an electric mountain bike should handle like a mountain bike. Mondraker designed the Dune around an enduro carbon frame with proper enduro geometry — a 64-degree head tube angle, a 30mm stem, and a reach that runs from 445mm at a small to 505mm at an XL. Forward Geometry, Mondraker's proprietary approach to frame sizing, pairs long front-center dimensions with a very short stem to keep the rider centered and in control through technical descents, not fighting the front end from behind a long cockpit. The motor and battery are integrated into that chassis, not bolted onto a trail bike frame as an afterthought.

The motor is a Bosch Performance Line SX GEN4, part of Bosch's Smart System platform. The SX is Bosch's lighter, more natural-feeling motor — calibrated to deliver meaningful pedal assist without the heavy, mechanical sensation of a full-output drive unit when the terrain levels out or the assist cuts. An integrated 400Wh Bosch Compact Powertube battery sits within the down tube, and the system supports the optional Bosch PowerMore 250Wh range extender for a total of 650Wh when big days demand it. Control comes through the Purion 400 display and Bosch Mini Remote, with the Bosch System Controller managing assist levels cleanly and without clutter on the bar.

Suspension at both ends is Fox. The Fox 38 Float 3P Performance Grip fork provides 170mm of travel with a three-position compression damper and micro-adjust, a chassis-grade fork that handles the speeds and terrain the geometry invites. At the rear, the Fox Float X Performance EVOL shock delivers 165mm of travel through Mondraker's updated Zero Suspension System — a kinematic arrangement that positions the shock lower in the frame and uses a more compact swingarm to improve both stiffness and mid-stroke sensitivity. The mullet wheel configuration reinforces the bike's all-conditions intent: e*thirteen Grappler Core 29-inch wheels up front for rollover and stability, 27.5-inch in the rear for quicker, more agile handling through tight technical sections. Both are hookless and tubeless-ready with 30mm of internal width, wrapped in Maxxis Assegai 29x2.5 WT front and Maxxis Minion DHR II 27.5x2.4 WT rear — a tire pairing that covers the range from loose loam to hardpack.

The drivetrain is SRAM's 12-speed Eagle system — a GX Eagle rear derailleur shifted by NX Eagle triggers and running an 11-50 cassette through an E.13 Helix Core E*Spec Plus crankset with a 34-tooth ring sized for eMTB loads. SRAM DB8 Stealth four-piston calipers with Centerline 200mm rotors front and rear handle braking. The cockpit is an 800mm Onoff S6 1.0 alloy bar with 25mm of rise, matched to a 30mm Onoff S6 stem that keeps the rider's weight forward and the front end accurate. An Onoff Pija dropper post at 31.6mm with a 1X remote and a Fizik Terra Aidon Slim X5 saddle complete the build.

Design Benefits

  1. Forward Geometry: Long reach paired with a 30mm stem keeps the rider centered over the contact points through technical terrain, reducing the front-end lightness that undermines confidence on steep descents.
  2. 64° head tube angle: Slack enough for aggressive enduro terrain and high-speed stability, positioned consistently across all frame sizes for predictable handling regardless of build.
  3. Bosch Performance SX GEN4: A lighter, more natural-feeling drive unit than full-output motors — designed to deliver real assistance on climbs while receding into the background on descents and flatter terrain.
  4. 400Wh integrated battery + extender compatibility: 400Wh covers most trail days; the optional Bosch PowerMore 250Wh extender brings total capacity to 650Wh for bigger objectives without a permanent weight penalty.
  5. Zero Suspension System: Updated kinematics with the shock positioned lower in the frame and a compact swingarm — improving stiffness and mid-stroke sensitivity without added weight.
  6. Fox 38 fork: A large-chassis fork built for aggressive enduro riding, with three-position compression damping and micro-adjust tuning. Appropriate for the terrain this bike's geometry targets.
  7. Mullet wheel setup: 29" front for rollover and straight-line stability, 27.5" rear for more agile handling in tight, technical sections — both hookless tubeless-ready with 30mm of internal width.
  8. SRAM DB8 Stealth 4-piston brakes: Four-piston calipers with 200mm rotors front and rear — the stopping power an assist-capable enduro bike at speed on technical terrain requires.
  9. Maxxis Assegai / Minion DHR II tire combo: A front tire built for maximum grip in variable conditions paired with a rear tire optimized for rolling efficiency and durability — a well-matched pairing for enduro riding.

Final Take

The Dune R is Mondraker's answer to a rider who wants an eMTB capable enough to take seriously — proper Fox suspension front and rear, a carbon frame built around Forward Geometry, and a motor spec that prioritizes feel over raw output. At $7,999, it delivers the suspension, geometry, and braking of a capable enduro mountain bike with a Bosch drive system integrated cleanly into the chassis. Available in Racing Silver and Nimbus Grey across four sizes.

Good read
"I know you were once an child with dreams but I once your child with my own dreams." Is a quote that relates to this book. While it needs to be edited more and some mistakes fixed, this has allowed me and many others to understand our parents better and work towards fixing what they have done or even what they failed to do.

Guidelines for Self-awareness and change
This book’s focus, to me, was about self-awareness: 1 to what degree were my parents emotionally immature and what impact, if any, did this impact me?; 2. To what degree have I grown and developed in emotional intelligence/nurturing resilience?; and what impact did my behaviors have on my children’s development? An interesting exercise

A Practical Guide to Breaking the Cycle of Emotional Immaturity
“The Legacy of Emotionally Immature Parents: Gain Insights and Solutions Across the Generations to Navigate Child-Rearing Challenges, Build Healthy Relationships, and Grow Emotionally” by Mike Palm is the practical guide for parents who couldn’t fully meet emotional needs, and couldn’t give what they didn’t have and the adults still carrying the impact. The book is quite well structured. For example, Chapters 1–2 define emotional immaturity, trace its roots and explore how it shows up in family dynamics. Chapter 3 focuses on breaking the cycle - identifying patterns, using boundaries, mindfulness, and behavioral change tools. Chapter 5 is on self-care - prioritizing it without guilt, designing routines, balancing family obligations, and practicing emotional detachment. Chapter 7 tackles forgiveness and building a legacy of emotional maturity. Overall, this is a practical guide for anyone who grew up feeling emotionally unseen and wants to parent differently. Highly recommended for parents who recognize emotional immaturity in their upbringing and want to stop the cycle, or anyone wanting to build healthier relationships with family members who may still carry those patterns.

Emotional neglect—more than obvious abuse—is the real wound
By Maria Castillo, LMFT “Family and Marriage Counselor,” Academic / Research-Based Review of Healing the Legacy of Emotionally Immature Parents Healing the Legacy of Emotionally Immature Parents is a well-constructed and clinically grounded exploration of the long-term impact of emotional immaturity within family systems. As a family and marriage counselor, I find this book to be an invaluable resource for understanding and treating intergenerational patterns of emotional neglect, insecure attachment, and maladaptive coping strategies. The author integrates core principles from developmental psychology, attachment theory, and systems theory to explain how emotionally immature parenting shapes the child’s internal working models and self-perception. The book clearly outlines how children raised in emotionally dysregulated or self-focused environments often develop hypervigilance, people-pleasing tendencies, emotional suppression, or role reversal—phenomena well documented in research on childhood emotional neglect and parentification. One of the book’s strengths is its ability to translate complex psychological mechanisms into accessible language without sacrificing clinical integrity. The descriptions of emotionally immature parent subtypes parallel established constructs in family systems literature, including emotional cutoff, enmeshment, and boundary diffusion. The author also highlights how these patterns tend to be transmitted across generations unless actively disrupted through insight, boundary formation, and emotional differentiation. From a therapeutic standpoint, the framework aligns well with evidence-based approaches such as attachment-focused therapy, trauma-informed care, and internal family systems work. The book offers practical tools that support emotional regulation, cognitive reframing, and boundary setting—interventions consistently supported by current research in relational and developmental trauma. Overall, *Healing the Legacy of Emotionally Immature Parents* is a robust and clinically relevant text. It serves not only as a validating resource for clients but also as a practical companion for clinicians working with adults who struggle with unresolved childhood emotional injury. Its emphasis on differentiation, self-leadership, and intergenerational healing makes it a meaningful contribution to the literature on family therapy and adult attachment.
