Commando is a clone of the Randall Commander Amplifier's PREAMP section which was designed by Don Randall while working at Fender approximately 40 years ago. Kurt used this amplifier for Bleach and IU recordings, as well as live.

The B/M/T tonestack is familiar to most and the Master sets the output level. 

The "CHANNEL" switch is a diode clipping switch:
1. Up is LESS
2. Middle is NONE
3. Down is STOCK

This subtly changes the compression and clipping characteristics allowing you to dial in whatever crystal clean (NEVERMIND) or lightly crunchy clean tones you like while also taking a DS-1, or other distortion pedals EXTREMELY well. These changes are most noticeable with the VOLUME (gain) set higher or running distortion into it. 

The pedal is: 
* 9-24V DC CENTER NEGATIVE MAX
* True bypass 
    
9V is fine, for best results use 24V like the amplifier.

You'll want to use a solid state power amp, or a tube poweramp and a cab/speaker/simulation similar to the Randall's G12-70 speakers. 

Alternatively you can plug Commando directly into your amplifiers FX LOOP RETURN.

Commando can be used in front of an amp but we recommend using the most neutral settings possible on the amps EQ. For fender style amps this is middle set to maximum and bass and treble set at minimum. 

Commando can be used for direct recording into your DAW with a fender style POWERAMP/ CAB simulation. 

I recommend starting with CHANNEL selector DOWN in the STOCK position and master set to MAX.
