This is a traditional Sauna cabin built to Finnish/Trumpkin design specs. We were frustrated with the low ceilings, and poorly designed sauna kits currently on the market. So we set out to build a functional kit sauna, one that the Finns would actually call a sauna.

A minimalist, timeless design that creates a comfortable, relaxing sweat, not the feeling of suffocation or a hot head and cool feet. With so many pseudo saunas on the market today using "Finnish design" as a marketing buzzword, we wanted to bring REAL Finnish design to the people. The Finns have been perfecting sauna for thousands of years and we believe in using the principles they've discovered. That is why The Essential Sauna Cabin was born.

What’s Included?

This is DIY kit and will require you to build and buy some crucial elements yourself. 

If you are handy you can tackle this project yourself, or simply give our instructions to a local builder/handyman. We believe this kit is great alternative to a fully custom build, which can take very long and become very expensive to do it right. We do our best to provide you with everything you need to create a great sauna as quick as possible.

This kit includes all the pre-cut materials and instructions necessary for assembly, allowing you to build a great log wall sauna structure. 

• Solid wood walls (Canadian Spruce) (38mm thick, double tongue-and-groove, interlocking corners for a tight seal)
• Pre-cut roof structure (T&g roof boards, ready for roofing material of your choice)
• Tongue-and-groove floor boards (can be modified for drainage)
• Pre-built Clear Pine sauna benches (with proper height and airflow between boards)
• Pre-cut Interior Ceiling T&G (Clear Pine)
• Pre-hung glass sauna door
• Assembly hardware and instructions

Please Note:

This is a DIY construction kit and requires you to build and buy crucial elements yourself, requiring some construction skills. The kit structure itself is relatively low skill level, while the foundation, roofing material, and insulating/cladding the ceiling may require more advanced skills. Don't be fooled by other sauna companies who make it look like an IKEA project. You are building a real outdoor structure here that requires a proper foundation and roofing installation.

The ceiling requires you to provide your own bag of insulation and foil vapor barrier. Pre-cut T&G clear pine ceiling is now included.

Additionally, the customer will need to purchase their own heater, roofing material, and a proper foundation for your site. If needed, please feel free to reach out to us, and we’d be happy to assist you in sourcing a high-quality sauna heater that fits your needs. We also have guidance and illustrations, as well as a sample material list to help you or your builder with these other elements.

Optimized for the Best Sauna Experience

This sauna structure follows authentic Finnish design principles, inspired by "The Secrets of Finnish Sauna Design" and Trumpkin's notes on proper sauna construction.

With an approximate size of 8x8x8.5 feet (finished interior measurements), it provides:
✅ Proper bench height so that your body is evenly heated from head to toe
✅ Room for ceiling insulation to optimize heating efficiency, and help make up for lack of insulation in most kit saunas. As well as the ability to keep moisture out of your roof structure.
✅ Natural, untreated spruce wood interior—no toxic materials

✅ Instructions/examples on how to ventilate the Finnish/Trumpkin way

This is not another low-ceiling sauna or a mass-produced barrel sauna—this is a true Finnish-inspired sauna, built for an exceptional bathing experience.
