That is a real shame, given how easy it is to divide and grow into a mature-looking plant with striking stress coloration and fractal-like geometry. While some may be deterred by the bunches of dead leaves that form around the base of old plants, we find this only adds to the charm and gives them a time-worn look. From the northernmost part of South Africa and southern Namibia, where it receives little rainfall.
