We do not recommend placing them in shade, as this can cause them to droop with stunted growth. It will require wet soil made up of sand, topsoil, sphagnum moss, and bark during its growing months and then damp soil during its winter dormancy period. These plants grow best under acidic soil conditions with poor nutrients. The dormancy period will start around 45°F - 30°F, but it will depend on your region. With Carnivorous plants, it is recommended you use distilled or RO water during the summer months when rain is less prevalent. We personally like to make sure our TDS is around 100 by mixing some tap water (This is optional, though).
