ZZ plants, scientifically known as Zamioculcas zamiifolia, are popular houseplants appreciated for their attractive foliage, low maintenance requirements, and ability to tolerate low light conditions. Here's some information about ZZ plants:

Appearance: ZZ plants are characterized by their glossy, dark green, pinnate leaves that grow in a graceful, arching pattern. The leaves are composed of numerous small leaflets attached to a central stem, giving the plant a lush and tropical appearance. Some ZZ plant varieties may have variegated or lighter-colored foliage.
Growth Habit: ZZ plants have a slow to moderate growth rate and typically grow to be about 2 to 3 feet tall indoors, although larger specimens can reach up to 4 feet in height. They have a clumping growth habit, with stems emerging from a central rhizomatous root system. The plant's overall shape remains relatively compact, making it suitable for small spaces.
Native Habitat: ZZ plants are native to eastern Africa, specifically Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar, where they grow in shaded areas of forests and grasslands. They are well-adapted to survive in low light conditions and periods of drought.
Care Requirements: ZZ plants are incredibly low-maintenance and adaptable, making them ideal for beginner and experienced plant enthusiasts alike. They thrive in low to moderate light conditions, although they can tolerate bright, indirect light as well. ZZ plants are drought-tolerant and prefer to dry out between waterings, making them suitable for forgetful or busy plant owners. They prefer average room temperatures and can tolerate fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
Air Purification: ZZ plants are known for their air-purifying qualities. While they may not be as effective as some other plants at removing toxins from the air, they can still help improve indoor air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen during photosynthesis.
Propagation: ZZ plants can be propagated through division or leaf cuttings. Dividing the plant involves separating the rhizomes and replanting them in separate pots. Leaf cuttings can be taken from mature plants and rooted in water or directly in potting soil.
Pet-Friendly: ZZ plants are considered non-toxic to pets, including cats and dogs. However, ingesting any plant material can still cause mild gastrointestinal upset in pets, so it's essential to keep them out of reach of curious animals.

Overall, ZZ plants are versatile, resilient, and visually striking houseplants that can thrive in a variety of indoor environments. With their glossy foliage and low maintenance requirements, they make a fantastic addition to any indoor plant collection.

Great cozy mystery series
Format: Kindle
I love that the main character is an energetic independent older woman I can relate to. Ally is funny, smart, and says what’s on her mind and even at her age (late 60’s) has to deal with Romantic situations some encouraged and some definitely not. I totally enjoyed this book couldn’t put it down and plan to read the remaining books in this series. The book definitely keeps your interest from the first chapter on. I loved that the setting was in Scotland (I’m part Scottish) and it was describe so beautifully I almost felt like I was there.

Sorry that I was not much of a fan, especially not a fan of the narrator.
Format: Audiobook
I read this with my book club. Mixed reviews...some liked it and some of us not so much. Nobody really wanted to continue reading this series. The story was not very intriguing, and the book dragged on. The narrator was not very good, so it spoiled the experience. I will not continue to read the series.

Worked well near the equator
Style: SPF 50
I bought this product because I was going to be in the field for a month, outside, every day, all day, in Tanzania at high altitude. A severe sunburn would be hard to treat in the remote area we were in, but also I am very careful about protecting my skin from aging. I had to have mineral based sunscreen because as a whitewater kayaker I know it’s the only truly water resistant kind and it was going to be sweaty. And since I knew I was going to be putting it on every day, and we didn’t have running water in the field (bucket showers only) I didn’t want it to feel gross. (I really wanted to try the spray but I didn’t want to put anything pressurized in my luggage.) And I had already discovered the Coola face sunscreen (30spf version) which had impressed me with how silky smooth and not greasy it is. Now this IS greasier because it is a higher SPF. BUT I think this product is as good as you’re going to get with the protection you’re getting. Like I said, I’m a white water tiger, so I have used a LOT of mineral sunscreens. This was hands down the most comfortable one I’ve used. And it was effective. I didn’t burn once—only time I did burn was when I forgot to put it on one day toward the end of the trip, when we were out for just a couple hours—and I got the first 2nd degree burn I’ve ever had in my life. That was what this stuff had protected me from, all day every day, the entire trip. I did tan a little but I think that was mostly from the few times I was not covered during short bouts or it was cloudy. For my face I used the Coola 50spf face product.

Love this stuff!
Style: SPF 50
I use this every day and I love how it is frangrance free and creamy. I have a very fair complexion and I will say it leaves a slight white cast but it doesn’t bother me because it almost makes my fairness more creamy looking. My skin texture has improved since wearing it daily and no allergies from it. I highly recommend especially if you have fairer skin otherwise it may leave a cast .
