The Shimpaku is very hardy, long-lived and tolerates many adverse conditions. The longer prostrate branches tend to intertwine. The leaves are arranged in decussate whorls of three; all the leaves are juvenile form and needle-like with two white stomatal bands on the inner face. The Shimpaku has attractive year round foliage and its dark green needles are soft to the touch. It is dioecious, producing cones of only one sex on each plant. Its graceful canopy and impressive bark make the Shimpaku an outstanding bonsai for any collection.

Shimpaku Juniper are one of the most popular species for bonsai. Attractive foliage and beautiful bark make this one of the top candidates for bonsai. Many wild trees, also known as yamadori, have been collected in Japan, making it extremely rare to find growing wild. In fact, today the Shimpaku junipers growing in the wild in Japan face extinction due to over collecting. Shimpaku was and is very dangerous to collect. Many of the best Shimpaku live only in remote cliff areas. It is said that the first Shimpaku to be collected in the wild came from the Ishizuchi mountain rangeon Shikoku Island. Collected Shimpakus are known for their deadwood, called jin and shari in the bonsai community. Many bonsai masterpieces are Shimpaku Junipers.

I love shimpaku junipers!

Used Watch?
Color: Black/Gray/Digital
The watch is great but the watch had been worn. The protective film was removed and it was loose in the watch box and not on the plastic holder. I bought a new watch not a used one. Joe

My last Timex and why.
Color: Black/Gray/Digital, Color: Black/Gray/Digital
New edit. Upon further reflection, I’ve only had, a couple of exploratory years with Swatch excepted, Timex watches. My first one was when my mother replaced the Chicita Banana “tickity tock” sticker with a real Timex wind up watch before my first Cub Scout camp. In addition to many other Timex products, I’ve had these Ironman watches for the past 25+years. Usually the band wears out and can’t be replaced after three or four years. This particular watch fell apart less than six weeks old. It wasn’t hit by impact. It just came apart while I was driving down the road. I wonder if they’ve changed their manufacturing process. See photo for details. What is truly infuriating is that rather than replacing it, because it is truly a warranty issue, the told me to ship it to their offshore repair facility (which could take 3-5 months) and pay what might be half the value of the watch. Things happen, but the intentional friction they have created to avoid their obligations borders on malpractice and speaks to their indifference toward customer experience and subsequent lifetime value.
