Hoya kerrii – The Sweetheart Plant

Botanical Name: Hoya kerrii
Common Names: Sweetheart Plant, Lucky-heart

The Hoya kerrii, affectionately known as the Sweetheart Plant or Lucky-heart, is a captivating houseplant admired for its distinctive heart-shaped leaves. Native to tropical Asia, it brings a delightful blend of charm and resilience, making it an ideal decorative piece or a thoughtful gift.

Please Note: The 3" and 4" pots contain single-leaf cuttings and will not develop vines. These are decorative, non-vining specimens.

Features & Benefits

  • Heart-Shaped Foliage:
The standout feature of this plant is its naturally heart-shaped leaf, making it a symbolic and meaningful gift for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or to express affection year-round.
  • Tough Yet Lovely:
Don’t be fooled by its delicate appearance—Hoya kerrii is a hardy plant that thrives on minimal care, perfect for those seeking an easy, stress-free addition to their home or office.
  • Slow and Steady Growth:
This plant is extremely slow-growing, especially in its single-leaf form. It serves more as a long-lasting ornamental accent than a rapidly growing houseplant.
  • Warm Climate Adaptability:
As a tropical species, it prefers warm indoor conditions and adapts well to the average household environment.
  • Memorable Gift Idea:
The symbolism of the heart-shaped leaf combined with the plant’s simplicity makes it a thoughtful gift that’s both personal and enduring.

Important Notes on Growth

  • The 3" and 4" pots feature single-leaf cuttings that will not produce vines. These are intended for decorative purposes only.
  • The "Double" option contains two single-leaf cuttings in the same pot.
  • For those seeking a vining specimen, select our 6" pot variant, which contains a rooted and actively growing plant.

Why Choose Hoya kerrii?

  • Effortless Maintenance: Ideal for beginners, offices, or those with busy schedules.
  • Visual Delight: Adds an artistic and natural flair to any room with its heart-shaped structure and variegated accents.
  • Symbolic Value: A living expression of affection, appreciation, and love—perfect for meaningful gifting.

Add Heart to Your Space

Whether you're building a plant collection or looking for a heartfelt gift, Hoya kerrii offers both beauty and sentiment. With its iconic leaf shape, low maintenance needs, and enduring charm, it’s a unique and memorable addition to any indoor space.

Why are these books so hard to find in libraries and bookstores??!
Format: Paperback
Bought nearly the whole book series after reading the reviews. My 8 and 10 year old boys love these books. My 10 year old read the first book on his way to and from soccer practice. He couldn't put it down and kept telling me what he read. My boys have read all the "Magic Treehouse", "I Survived" and some "I Escaped" books, as well as "Big Nate", "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", etc. BUT these battle books are the best. They really teach about the history of the wars which have shaped our modern times. WHY are these books so hard to find in libraries and bookstores... at least in Maryland? Maybe because "Great Battles for Boys" reeks of toxic masculinity? I really wonder. In any case, great books especially if you want your boys to read serious, informative books that are interesting and entertaining.

Great for boys AND MOMS
Format: Paperback
Saw an ad for the series online and wanted to buy just one book to try. Received with 2 day Prime. Book was new. So, not only does this book have an incredible, intriguing story that sucked in my 10 year old who hates reading and struggles to read, it had me at Hello. The beginning of the book is filled with recipes! Was totally not expecting that! So for this Momma, under promise-over deliver was the theme here. Purchasing the rest of the books! Also look online for worksheets that parents have put together to go along with these books. Totally worth it. Happy Reading! AND Cooking!

Great reads for all levels
Format: Paperback
I bought 2 for a 6th grade boy I tutor. He has a beginning interest in history. He's been 'eating' these books up! These are well written, but not complex to turn a young reader off. There are many alternative resources to listed to dive into if a particular person or event sparks interest with the reader. There is appropriate vocabulary with explanations on some- others open a chance for my student & I to have a deeper discussion to clarify meaning & connect information.

Great book for an (almost) 11 year old to learn about WW2
Format: Paperback
My (almost) 11 year old says he enjoyed this book because it gives specific details and has pictures of what was going on making it easy to understand what was happening. The only thing he’d change was that the pictures weren’t in color (lol)!
