Very lightweight shelter
A bivy bag is ideal for those who don’t want to haul a tent but still like to remain dry. It is lightweight, packable, and very easy to set up. With the zip-in-zip system, you can zip your Carinthia sleeping bag inside the bivy bag. Getting in and out is just as comfortable as with a sleeping bag without a cover. (If you're drunk, neither is very comfortable.)
Note: Zip compatibility depends on the sleeping bag model. We don’t have an official list of compatible bags, so double-check before you buy if you’re planning to zip this to a sleeping bag.
If you want more protection from things that fall from the sky, use the bivy with a tarp. You can also go without a tarp to maximize packability and make the setup even faster. This GTX laminate is not only extremely breathable but also permeable to oxygen and carbon dioxide. This means that you can create a completely closed, waterproof, and windproof shelter for sleeping in really crappy weather. The air permeability has been tested to a depth of 1 m of snow.
Anti-drone sleeping
The war in Ukraine has shown that drones can make your life very miserable if you huddle in groups, which has made army tents a lot less desirable sleeping quarters. With bivy bags, you can scatter the soldiers further apart.
Extra protection against cold
The excellent insulation properties of this bivy give additional protection against the cold and wind. This means that you can use your sleeping bag in a bit colder environment than you normally could.
Durable materials
The 3-layer GTX laminate fabric is lightweight and packable, yet tough. Nevertheless, it is smart to use a sleeping pad underneath to protect the bivy from sharp rocks, roots, and twigs. Furthermore, the pad protects you from sharp things and insulates you from the cold creeping in from below.
