This year's Battles of Legend set, Battles of Legend: Monster Mayhem, contains three new surprises!
Surprise No. 1: It's Chibi time!
Get your hands on 10 "chibi" variants of popular monsters. We've used the chibi art style on accessories before, but this is the first time it's been used on real cards. And to be clear, these aren't tokens, but fully playable cards with text!
(Expect more chibi card variants in the future!)
Surprise n°2: style to spare!
Another new feature of this game: Ultra Rares cards embellished with a coat of arms! Each pack of Battles of Legend: Monster Mayhem contains an Ultra Rare card with a Dragoness, P.U.N.K. or Orcuste theme, with a custom emblem for that theme, affixed directly to the card's text area.
This is your chance to embellish those Decks with unprecedented style! There are 51 emblem cards in all, including 6 never-before-seen cards (2 for each theme).
Surprise no. 3: the return of the stars!
Okay, some of us saw that coming! But the surprise isn't that the rare Starlight cards are back - which they are - but that they're much easier to get! Last seen in 2023 as extremely hard-to-find cards, Starlight Rares will be present in Battles of Legend: Monster Mayhem at roughly the same rate as the Quarter Century's Secret Rares over the past two years.
No surprise there: lots of new cards!
One thing you can always expect from a Battles of Legend series is new cards for your decks, and always in aluminum. Battles of Legend: Monster Mayhem contains new cards for the Nekroz, Gem-Knight, Jurrac, Fabled, D/D and Magistus decks, plus many more.
Unsurprisingly, this massive 177-card set includes many old - and new! - that you may still be looking for (Primite Lordly Lode, anyone?), or want to pick up to upgrade a foil (King of the Feral Imps was very unhappy with its apparent lack of sparkle).
Each 5-card pack of Battles of Legend: Monster Mayhem contains
- 1 Secret Rare
- 1 Ultra Rare card (always a Dragonmaid, P.U.N.K. or Orcust-themed card)
- 3 other Ultra Rare cards
The total size of the set is 177 (52 Secret Rare cards, 51 Ultra Rare cards with emblem, and 74 other Ultra Rare cards). 25 of these cards are also available as Starlight Rares.
