Auch wenn der Lack in den vergangenen fast 40 Jahren an der ein oder anderen Stelle etwas gelitten hat, besitzt das Faggin Special Campione del Mondo nach wie vor eine ungemeine Stahlkraft. Die Besonderheit: unter der roten Lackschicht wurde der Rahmen seinerzeit komplett verchromt. Diese aufwändige Behandlungsart sorgt nicht nur für zusätzlichen Schutz vor Korrosion, sondern auch für Leuchten in den Augen des Betrachters. Genau wie die Gravuren in der Gabelkrone. Marcello Faggin war einer der ersten von vielen passionierten Radsportlern, die sich in den Jahren nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg dem Rahmenbau verschrieben haben. Bereits 1945 eröffnete er in Udine seine eigene Schmiede. Bald zog das Unternehmen nach Padua um, wo noch heute Rahmen in italienischer Handarbeit gefertigt werden. In den folgenden Jahrzehnten waren zahlreiche große Helden des Radsports auf Fagin-Rennrädern erfolgreich. Darunter Enzo Moser und der einzigartige Eddy Merckx.

These are the same design. the stitching is close, the pattern in the leather is the same. But they are so much cheaper. There is no real leather. It's all synthetic. The sole is not the same quality of rubber. The stitching is not as good. They look fine, brand new, yet I am sure they will not last. these are cheap. They also cost less, so I guess they are an average value, but I am very annoyed.
