The BMC Teammachine R 01 Four is the product of an unusual partnership: BMC's Swiss engineering team sitting down with Red Bull Advanced Technologies — the same division that contributes to Formula 1 aerodynamic simulation — and asking what a road race bike could be if there were no easy compromises. The answer is a machine shaped by wind tunnel data, competition feedback from the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, and four decades of BMC race heritage. The result isn't just a fast bike. It's a coherent system designed around speed, and the Teammachine R 01 Four puts that system within reach of riders who race seriously but don't need the highest build specification to do it.

The most visible statement the R 01 makes is its Halo Fork. The fork legs are pushed dramatically wider than conventional designs, forming a distinctive ultra-wide stance that functions as more than an aesthetic choice. The wider profile calms turbulent air coming off the front wheel, preventing the chaotic airflow that stalls clean movement around the frame. The result is speed that doesn't disappear in crosswinds, and a front end that looks unmistakably purposeful because it genuinely is. Paired with it is the ICS Carbon Aero Gen 2 one-piece cockpit — a full carbon bar and stem unit developed with Tudor Pro Cycling, stiffer and more aerodynamic than the previous generation, with 135mm drop, 81mm reach, and 12° flare tuned for the position competitive riders actually ride in.

Further down the frame, BMC's "Mariana Bottom Bracket" — named for the deepest point on earth — extends lower than any BB BMC has built on a road bike. The engineering rationale is aerodynamic: a deeper BB profile presents cleaner air paths across the bottom of the frame, reducing drag in the zone where turbulence is hardest to manage. Combined with the 01 Premium Carbon layup used throughout the frame and fork — the same carbon specification that anchors BMC's most expensive road builds — the Teammachine R 01 Four is an aero machine that refuses to sacrifice stiffness or weight to achieve its speed. At 7.6kg for a size 54, it's genuinely race-ready off the floor.

The build is anchored by Shimano Ultegra Di2 — hydraulic disc brakes, 2×12 electronic shifting, and the reliability that comes from Shimano's second-tier flagship groupset. A 4iiii Precision Gen3+ power meter is included, meaning you can train and race with data from day one. The CR 50 Carbon tubeless-ready wheels provide 50mm of aerodynamic depth with TXC hubs, wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Race TLR tubeless tires in 28mm — a fast, all-conditions setup that doesn't require tubes and works at the kind of pressures that actually support road performance.

Design Benefits

  1. Red Bull Advanced Technologies aero development — Not a marketing partnership. Red Bull Advanced Technologies contributed F1-grade aerodynamic simulation and testing to the Teammachine R's design, resulting in tube shapes and fork geometry that were validated with the same rigor applied to motorsport applications.
  2. Halo Fork — The ultra-wide fork stance is the R 01's most consequential aerodynamic feature. By pushing the fork legs outward, BMC creates a shaped channel that shunts turbulent wheel-wash away from the frame, preventing aero stall in exactly the zone where most bikes lose speed.
  3. Mariana Bottom Bracket — Extending deeper than any previous BMC road frame, this BB geometry reduces drag at the bottom bracket shell where airflow is most turbulent. UCI-legal and built into the 01 Premium Carbon layup without structural compromise.
  4. 4iiii power meter included — A race-ready build should include training data. The 4iiii Precision Gen3+ gives you left-leg power measurement from the first ride, without paying separately for a meter that should come standard at this price.
  5. CR 50 Carbon wheels + Pirelli P Zero TLR — 50mm tubeless-ready carbon at a depth that performs in most conditions without becoming unmanageable in wind. The Pirelli P Zero is one of the fastest road tubeless tires available, completing a rolling system that doesn't need upgrading to race on.

Final Take

The Teammachine R 01 Four is the bike for a rider who wants genuine race engineering — the Halo Fork, the Mariana BB, the Red Bull aero input — with a build that's complete enough to train and race on immediately. Shimano Ultegra Di2 with a power meter and carbon tubeless wheels is not a stripped-down race package. At $8,999, the R 01 Four delivers the R 01 platform in full, with a specification that won't require upgrades before your next event.

Second Best Bifold I’ve Owned
Color: Black
I’ve gone through a lot of wallets over the years (cheap ones, expensive ones, slim cardholders, you name it), and this Timberland bifold with the attached flip pocket is easily the best all-around wallet I’ve ever carried. The leather is excellent: full-grain, soft right out of the box, and it’s aged beautifully in just a few months with a rich patina that actually looks better with every scratch and scuff. Build quality is top-notch: tight, even stitching, no loose threads, and the edges are finished cleanly. Four months of daily front-pocket carry and it still looks practically new. Layout is perfect for me. Six card slots plus the two slip pockets behind them handle everything I need (10 cards + a few folded bills) without getting bulky. The attached flip ID window is a game-changer; I keep my driver’s license and work badge there and can show either in seconds without opening the wallet. Cash fits easily in the full-length bill compartment. It’s genuinely slim for a traditional leather bifold, sits comfortably in both front and back pockets, and never feels like a brick. The embossed Timberland logo is subtle and classy. At this point I can’t imagine switching to anything else. It’s durable, functional, looks sharp, and was a fraction of the price of some “luxury” wallets that didn’t last half as long. If you want a classic leather bifold that actually delivers, this is it. 100% recommended; already planning to buy another as a backup.

Rugged Timberland Quality—The Best Bifold for "Double ID" Needs
Color: Black (Sportz)
Design & Capacity: I’ve been using this wallet for two weeks, and it’s a powerhouse for organization. The attached flip pocket is a game-changer for me because I have to carry both a driver's license and a work security badge. The two ID windows let me show both without digging through card slots. Genuine Leather: Looks and smells premium; will likely weather nicely with age. The Slimness Factor: Timberland calls this a "slimfold," and while it is thinner than a traditional trifold, the flip-out pocket does add some depth. With 6 cards and 5 bills, it measures about 0.75 inches thick. It fits comfortably in my back pocket, but it might be a bit much for a front-pocket-only user.

Wanting a standard nice wallet. Get this
Color: Black, Color: Black
Your standard wallet. Nothing to complain about. Does what it’s supposed to and I have no complaints. The fit is amazing. Holds at least 17 20 dollar bills and over. Durability is also amazing to say the least. Doesn’t rip at all, with a lot of money in it. Its thickness ties in with how much money you can fit in it, so I won’t go into that category. Overall what you see is what you get. A standard, nice, durable wallet that sticks into your pants.
