Chocolate Daisy (Berlandiera lyrata), also known as Chocolate Flower or Lyreleaf Greeneyes, is a unique, aromatic wildflower native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. This drought-tolerant perennial is best known for its daisy-like yellow blooms with maroon centers, which emit a rich chocolate scent, especially on warm mornings. The gray-green, mounded foliage provides an attractive contrast in gardens, while its long blooming season from spring through fall ensures lasting beauty. Highly resilient, Chocolate Daisy thrives in dry, rocky soils and well-drained plains, making it ideal for xeriscapes, wildflower meadows, and pollinator-friendly gardens. Easy to grow and deer-resistant, it reseeds readily and requires minimal maintenance, making it a standout choice for naturalized landscapes.
