This gorgeous Pothos will catch your eye with a shimmer every time it catches the light. Its large patches of silvery variegation looks great against its pale forest green leaves, and as it grows it will keep producing gorgeous shimmering leaves. Like many pothos plants, the Trebie is easygoing, enjoying average household conditions and not being overly picky with light levels or water, as long as it isn't abandoned for too long. Give this plant a spot in your home and in your heart and it will reward you with its gorgeous vining foliage.

Scientific Name
Scindapsus pictus 'Trebie / Exotica' (painted skindapsos- a four-stringed musical instrument, cultivar: Trebie / Exotica)

Synonyms: Pothos argenteus, Pothos argyraeus, Pothos argyraea, Scindapsus argyraeus, Pothos argyraeus, Scindapsus pothoides

Initially classified in the Pothos genus, this plant has had its current scientific name since 1842.

Common Name
Silver Splash Pothos, Silver Satin Pothos, Satin Pothos, Silver Vine, Silver Cloud, Silk Pothos, Silver Philodendron

Origin
Native to Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia

Light
Place this plant in indirect light, somewhere it's bright enough to read by natural light, without harsh direct sun. If you start to lose variegation it may be in too shady a spot.

Water
Allow the top third of the soil to dry between waters; make sure to reduce watering in winter and remember in darker locations this won't be very frequent. Let half the soil dry out in shadier spots.

Humidity
Average humidity is fine, just make sure your plant is not too close to a radiator or heater which will dry it out. Hose down occasionally to clean the leaves but don't mist as this can cause issues if the leaves are left damp.

Soil
Plant in well-draining, moisture retentive soil. A mix designed for Monstera or Philodendrons will work well for your Pothos. Repot every three years in spring as the plant grows.

Food
Feed every four waters in the growing season, reduce to every six in autumn and winter.

Temperature
Temperature should ideally be between 18-30°C- make sure it doesn't drop below 12°C in winter.

Pet-safe
No, this plant is toxic to pets and small humans.

Sprouts Top Tips
Prune off yellow or dying leaves; your plant may look small at first but with care it will really branch out! Think about where it will grow to and make sure it has space. You can use cuttings to propagate new plants from too if you do need to trim the plant down!

Great toy
Color: Blue
Great toy, too bad my Shih Tzu is afraid of it. I love the way the movement is subtle and random.

I wouldn’t recommend this for strong chewers.
Color: Orange, Color: Orange
Is it fun? Sure. Was it easy to charge and set up? Yep. That being said, this toy kind of fell flat for me. It really didn’t do any big movements once charged that I expected it to, so that was a bummer. I initially got it for my dog, but my cats were more interested in this than my dog was. The battery does seem to last a long time and the motor is pretty quiet. I WOULD NOT recommend this toy for strong chewers as the material for this is a foam rubber and I don’t think it’s durable enough for strong chewers. While the material makes this ball extremely lightweight for more movement, a strong chewer would have this disintegrated in five minutes flat. My Dog is a super strong chewer. I don’t think I would feel comfortable leaving him unattended with this because I know he would destroy it.

Well-designed and quiet, but didn’t keep my dog interested
Color: Blue
My dog was interested in this at first, but she would lose interest after a few minutes and move on. I do like that it’s quieter than the hard plastic ball toys, and the charge lasts well. The internal charging port that twists closed is also a nice design feature. That said, it will occasionally turn on by itself, which can be a little surprising. Overall, it has some nice features, but it just didn’t keep my dog engaged.
